Phoenix began her burlesque career in November of 2008 when she formed Des Moines, Iowa troupe, St. Vitus and the Taxi Dancers. She founded the Iowa School of Burlesque in 2011 and has taught her flavor of burlesque all over the country. Phoenix has over 20 years of performance and teaching mastery, 16 of those dedicated to burlesque, under her garter belt and combines her classical dance training, raw emotion, and commanding stage presence to create a powerfully moving audience and student experience.

Phoenix has designed clothing and costumes for burlesque, music videos, fashion shows and Hollywood films for 15 years. She has worked on set with Academy Award winners' Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker and actor Cam Gigandet, just to name a few.

Phoenix has been a guest lecturer on performance, gender studies, human sexuality and sex work in the marketplace at Iowa State University & Drake University and serves as co-director of local troupe, Black Veil Burlesque.
